Megabattery Pieterlen

We are pleased to announce the status of our next major project. By the third quarter of 2026, a mega-battery with a power output of 17 MW and a capacity of 50 MWh will be built in Pieterlen, Canton of Bern.

The project was developed by 49Komma8 AG, with all rights and obligations transferred to the special-purpose vehicle "BESS Pieterlen AG." BESS Pieterlen AG was sold to a private investor in autumn 2025, for whom we are now realizing the BESS project. 49Komma8 AG is acting as the general planner and construction manager until successful commissioning. Christen + Partner Ingenieure und Planer AG from Lyss is supporting us as a sub-planner for the construction work. We are delighted about this strategic partnership and support in the greater Biel area.

The battery project makes a significant contribution to security of supply and brings photovoltaic power into the evening hours.
